Texas law mandates that all dogs and cats older than four months receive the Rabies vaccination. However, there are a number of other core vaccinations that are similarly vital. Typically, we advise giving cats and dogs the FVRCP vaccine and the combo DAPP shot, respectively. While cats are protected from rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia by the FVRCP vaccine, distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and parvo are all prevented by the DAPP vaccine.
We also offer a variety of vaccines based on lifestyle considerations. We’ll discuss your pet’s lifestyle with you to help determine which vaccines they need most. The needs of an indoor-only cat are different from those of an outdoor cat. Additionally, dogs who frequent grooming, boarding, and daycare facilities or pet-friendly spaces need certain vaccinations that other dogs don't. We can protect your dog or cat against the diseases they are most likely to encounter without over-vaccinating by working with you to identify their requirements.
