Microchipping

If your pet is ever lost or stolen, having them microchipped might save their life.

It just takes a few seconds, feels like getting vaccinated, and offers lifetime protection.
Only a small portion of the millions of animals who enter shelters each year are ever reunited with their owners. If your animal buddy ever goes lost, having a microchip increases the likelihood that you will find them again. At The Colony Animal Clinic, we do microchipping in The Colony and advise almost all of our patients to get it done.

What It Does

Contrary to popular belief, microchips do not contain any data. Each one has an identification number instead. Once registered, this number is connected to a web account containing your contact information. Someone scans animals to look for microchips when they enter animal shelters, are picked up by animal control, etc. The scanner will show the identification number if one is detected. This number gives them access to your contact details.

Microchipping is a non-surgical procedure. We simply inject the chip with a syringe as it is only about the size of a grain of uncooked rice. No downtime or sutures are required after the procedure. Your pet can immediately continue their regular daily activities after leaving the clinic.
